I confess: I have an addiction to bargain shopping. And a book sale is my kryptonite.
Which is how I got my hands on the first three books in The Immortals series.
Now, I rather enjoyed the first one. The story was something new, and if you can look past Ever’s cluttered, boring thoughts, the characters were also pretty good, too. However, when it came to the second book, Ever’s boggled mind stopped me dead in my tracks. She is so damn whiny, and I can’t stand a girl (and guys are guilty too) whose whole world revolves around a relationship. Especially when they have just met. (Forget the past relationships. They have still only just met in this lifetime!) Also, I really like Roman’s character. Along with Miles and Haven and Riley!
Anyways, this brings me to Shadowland. Ever has outdone herself this time. She just doesn’t give a shit about much. She’s is border lining an obsession with getting into bed with Damen. Really, girl? You’ve got your whole lifetime, slow it down.
And when she isn’t thinking about sexy time with Damen, she is in this constant state of self hatred. (This has to do with something from the previous book, and I don’t think it is worth mentioning.) And Damen is just this controlling, jealous weirdo. Actually, that pretty much sums up those two.
So Roman is back with quite a big part, and I like him for some reason! He is just about the only character who I feel is legit. And also, Jude. He is kinda legit. A nice breath of fresh air.
But the thing I hated about Shadowland is the lack of Riley. She was my favorite part of the last two books and I loved her interruptions. So I skipped over most of the chapters and only read the dialogue.
Needless to say, I won’t be reading the rest.
